Announced back in January, Amazon has finally released, on Thursday (8th), the dedicated app for Alexa, its personal assistant, for Windows 10 devices. Now, Alexa and Cortana can work together!
The app is available for PCs running Windows 10 and can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store. However, the service is not available in all countries.
With the app, you can control audio playback volume and smart home devices. The app does not support videos, calls, Spotify or Pandora, and it is not possible to access the operating system’s features via Alexa — for the time being. However, Amazon says that “PC-specific features will be added in early 2019”.
According to an analysis by The Verge, the integration between Alexa and Cortana is still a little clunky, but it remains the best option for users of one virtual assistant who wish to use the other’s services from a PC or laptop.
