Facebook is also about to let users delete messages sent to contacts.

In the update notes for the latest version of Messenger for iOS, the feature is already mentioned directly, with a release scheduled for "soon" and details on its operation, allowing texts to be deleted up to 10 minutes after the original submission.

As in other applications of this type, this is valid even when the contact has already viewed the message, but the details of how it works are still scarce.

On WhatsApp, for example, deleted messages effectively disappear, but the speech bubble continues, indicating that there was a text there that was deleted by the sender.

The idea is that the same dynamic will apply to Messenger.

Today, the feature to delete messages in the application works only for the user himself, with no effect on what is received.

On the other hand, the possibility of expanding this possibility and allowing users to repent has been under consideration since April, when Facebook itself admitted that the creator and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, and other key executives of the company had the feature enabled in their profiles.

Then, the feature appeared working for some users in October. Doubts remain, however, about what exactly would be causing the company to take so long to release a feature that is already present in practically all messengers on the market.

The short limits also draw attention, since on WhatsApp, which also belongs to Facebook, this maximum time is one hour.

In any case, users can breathe easier knowing that they will soon have a second chance, however short, to rethink what was said to contacts.

Despite having only appeared in the iOS version update notes, the idea is that the novelty will also reach the Android operating system and desktop versions of Messenger.
