Spotify is finally following through on its plan to create an official app for the Apple Watch. The streaming service has released a trial version of the iOS app that supports Apple's smart watch.

The report came from members of Reddit, who found a recent version of the official Spotify app for the Apple Watch on TestFlight, Apple's platform that lets you test beta versions of iOS apps.

But anyone expecting a feature-packed version right off the bat may be disappointed. For now, the user will only be able to control music playback through the smartphone and, to the sadness of the vast majority, it will still not be possible to store music offline on the Apple Watch.

In 2017, a developer named Andrew Chang had already created an unofficial version with more interesting features, including offline play, called Spotty. Shortly after he was renamed Snowy, Andrew revealed that Spotify hired him to create a companion app using the company's iOS SDK.

Anyone interested in being a Spotify beta tester for Apple Watch can fill out a form provided by the company.
