Users reported being logged out of their accounts and unable to log back in.
The problems, believed to be related to technical issues on the site, appear to be concentrated in Europe. When users try to log in, an error message appears saying they need to reset their password by sending a code to their email.
Facebook users reported being logged out and unable to get back into their accounts. The problems – which started just before 1pm – caused widespread confusion, as many thought they had been hacked.
According to DownDetector, 42 per cent of the problems are related to login, 38 per cent of people said they had a total blackout, and 19 per cent of people said the problem was related to images.
DownDetector reported a huge increase in complaints from frustrated Facebook users at 2pm GMT, when there were 178 reports.
