Google is rolling out some new tools in an update to Maps on Android. The main one is that users can now follow places and receive notifications about events, promotions and other activities from shops, bars, restaurants and other nearby points of interest.
With the latest update, which is not yet available to all users, it has added a new tab called "For You", which offers information about places closest to users. Now, any locations that are followed on the platform will also appear in this section of the app.
At the same time, Google also announced that it will now allow new businesses that are about to open to notify users before their launch. As a result, such a place will have an orange indicator showing how long until it opens, and the owner can add all the necessary information to be found on Maps.
According to the company's official post, anyone about to open a new business can request to be registered on the platform before it exists. This way, the business will be shown to users up to three months before it opens.

These tools should reach all Android users in the coming weeks. Owners interested in updating both features for their places can do so via Google's business support page.
